Combining Spectral and Texture Features for Estimating Leaf Area Index and Biomass of Maize Using Sentinel-1/2, and Landsat-8 Data

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Leaf area index (LAI) and biomass are important indicators that reflect the growth status of maize. The optical vegetation indices and the synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) backscattering coefficient are commonly used to estimate the LAI and biomass ...

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Classification of color textures with random field models and neural networks

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2005
A number of texture classification approaches have been developed in the past but most of these studies target graylevel textures. In this work, novel results are presented on Neural Network based classification of color textures in a very large ...

The potential of Pléiades imagery for vegetation mapping: an example of grasslands and pastoral environments

open access: yesRevue Française de Photogrammétrie et de Télédétection, 2014
Nowadays the use of remote sensing for vegetation mapping over large areas is becoming progressively common, with the increase of satellites providing a good trade-off between metric spatial resolution and large swath (e.g. Spot 5, RapidEye).

FACIAL FEATURES DETECTION USING TEXTURE HOUGH TRANSFORM [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2015
The paper presents an original method for object detection. The “texture” Hough transform is used as the main tool in the search. Unlike classical generalized Hough transform, this variation uses texture LBP descriptor as a primitive for voting.

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Texture Feature Extraction Methods: A Survey [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Texture analysis is used in a very broad range of fields and applications, from texture classification (e.g., for remote sensing) to segmentation (e.g., in biomedical imaging), passing through image synthesis or pattern recognition (e.g., for image inpainting).

Defect Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Fused Filament Fabrication‐Manufactured 17‐4PH Stainless Steel Revealed by X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...
