Statistical Invariance for Texture Synthesis

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2012
Estimating illumination and deformation fields on textures is essential for both analysis and application purposes. Traditional methods for such estimation usually require complicated and sometimes labor-intensive processing. In this paper, we propose a new perspective for this problem and suggest a novel statistical approach which is much simpler and ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Texture Dataset Generator With Repeatable Patterns From a Single Sample Applied to Historical Tiles From Belém, Pará, Brazil

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society
Machine Learning (ML) algorithms require large datasets, often costly to create. This work proposes a generator model that builds synthetic texture datasets by synthesizing repeatable patterns from a single example.

Texture Synthesis based on Feature Description

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2012
Patch-based texture synthesis techniques from a small sample texture generate a new texture image efficiently, but one significant problem is that these existing texture synthesis algorithms suffer from structure mismatching across patch boundaries due ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...
