Simultaneous measurements of temperature and strain based on TFBG
Proceedings of the 2008 International Conference on Advanced Infocomm Technology - ICAIT '08, 2008Tilted fiber Bragg gratings (TFBGs), as an important class of optical fiber gratings, not only have all properties of fiber Bragg gratings, but also have their unique properties because of the special physical structure. In this paper, theoretical and experimental studies on their temperature and strain sensing characteristics have been conducted ...

Three parameters simultaneous measurement with a single TFBG
SPIE Proceedings, 2011A sensor for simultaneous measurements of strain, temperature and refractive index (RI) is proposed. The device is based on a single 8o tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG). Monitoring the core mode and ghost mode wavelength, it is possible to discriminate strain and temperature.

Preparation and measurement of TFBG based vibration sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2014We present vibration fiber sensor set up based on tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) and fiber taper. The sensor uses the TFBG as a cladding modes reflector and fiber taper as a bend-sensitive recoupling member. The lower cladding modes (ghost), reflected from TFBG, is recoupled back into the fiber core via tapered fiber section.

A comparison study of the sensing characteristics of FBG and TFBG
Sensor Review, 2013PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to compare the sensing characteristics of uniform fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) by presenting a detailed research review. Temperature, axial strain, bending, vibration and refractive index measurands of FBG and TFBG sensor are presented and some significant differences are found ...

Spatial frequency spectrum of SPR-TFBG: A simple spectral analysis for in-situ refractometry
Optik, 2020Abstract Surface plasmon resonance-tilted fiber Bragg gratings (SPR-TFBG) are known for their ultra-high sensitivity to various liquid measurands. However, the deposition angle of the gold film on TFBG being one of the critical fabrication parameters remains ill-explored.

Research on reflective cone-cylinder-TFBG refractive index sensor
2019 14th IEEE International Conference on Electronic Measurement & Instruments (ICEMI), 2019In the fields of brewing and pharmacy, the refractive index is an important reference. The reflective cone-cylinder, named fiber bragg grating (TFBG) fiber sensing system, was built in this paper. The cone-cylinder TFBG sensing structure was simulated using COMSOL and the light leakage of common cone structure was analyzed.

Simultaneous strain and refractive index sensor based on a TFBG
SPIE Proceedings, 2010°In this work, a dual sensor for simultaneous measurements of strain and refractive index (RI) is proposed. The sensor is based on a 4.5 tilted fibre Bragg grating (TFBG). Using two different demodulating techniques, namely monitoring the core mode wavelength and the normalized area of the transmission spectrum, it is possible to measure, strain and ...

Novel bio-sensing platform based on TFBG and multifunctional 3D nanoflower
2021 19th International Conference on Optical Communications and Networks (ICOCN), 2021We presented a multifunctional refractive index (RI) bio-sensing platform based on tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) modified with Zinc oxide nanoflower. TFBG mode coupling coefficient or the amplitude of cladding mode will vary sharply with the imaginary part of permittivity of the Zinc oxide nanoflowers.

A Novel Simple TFBG Spectrum Demodulation Method for RI Quantification
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2017This letter presents a novel method for the analysis of tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) transmission spectra. The processing method is based on the transmission spectrum contour length, which is calculated in the wavelength range where cladding modes appear.

TFBG-SPR DNA-Biosensor for Renewable Ultra-Trace Detection of Mercury Ions
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2021In this article, a tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) plasmonic sensor based on thymine (T) - Hg - thymine (T) (T-Hg-T) base asymmetric pairing and Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), which can be used for highly sensitive and selective ultra-low-concentration Hg2+ detection, has been demonstrated.
