Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction [PDF]

open access: yesAsia Oceania Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, 2020
Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of ...

Uptake and Fractionation of Thallium by Brassica juncea in a Geogenic Thallium-Amended Substrate.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2019
This study shows thallium (Tl) concentrations in Brassica juncea (Indian mustard) tissue are more than an order of magnitude higher (3830 μg/kg) than that of the substrate (100 μg/kg) and are strongly influenced by the underlying mineralogy; i.e., Tl ...

Thallium under extreme compression [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2016
We present a combined theoretical and experimental study of the high-pressure behavior of thallium. X-ray diffraction experiments have been carried out at room temperature (RT) up to 125 GPa using diamond-anvil cells (DACs), nearly doubling the pressure ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Effect of Thallium (I) Ions on the Zinc Electrowinning Process

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia
The effects of thallium(Ⅰ) ions on the surface morphology, cathode current efficiency, cathode potential, polarization behavior, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of zinc electrowinning were studied by scanning electron microscopy and ...

The Mediating Role of Placental Weight Change in the Association Between Prenatal Exposure to Thallium and Birth Weight: A Prospective Birth Cohort Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2021
Background: Previous studies have demonstrated the embryotoxicity and fetotoxicity of thallium (Tl). However, the effects of prenatal exposure to Tl on birth weight and placental weight and the mediating role of placental weight in the association of Tl ...

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Prenatal thallium exposure and child neurodevelopment at 2 years: a birth cohort study in China

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Background: Thallium, a highly toxic heavy metal, is well-documented for causing neurodevelopmental toxicity in animal models. However, epidemiological evidence regarding the effects of early-life thallium exposure on human neurodevelopment remains ...

Thallium in mineral resources extracted in Poland

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2013
Thallium concentrations in primary mineral commodities extracted in Poland and processed in high temperatures were determined by ICP-MS method. Samples of hard and brown coal, copper-silver and zinclead ores, argillaceous and calcareous rocks of ...
