Investigation of ice jams using the GPR method

2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018
The most effective way to remove ice jams is the explosive method, the use of which is most appropriate during the ice jam formation period. But it is necessary to know the thickness and volume of the jam-making ice in order to put the optimum quantity of explosive for effective destruction of the ice jam.

GPR modelling by the Fourier method: improvement of the algorithm

Geophysical Prospecting, 1999
We improve two aspects of the modelling scheme for the simulation of electromagnetic radio waves, based on the Fourier pseudospectral method. When there are large contrasts in the material properties, use of the standard algorithm (regular grid) causes a series of artefacts, as, for instance, ringing and acausal events.

Background removal methods in GPR prospecting

2013
In GPR prospecting strong reflections due to background medium interfaces can hinder the detection of localized buried scatterers. In order to mitigate such clutter, some background removal (clutter rejection) methods can be employed. In this paper, different background removal methods such as a the average trace subtraction, the subspace projection ...

Symmetry filtering method for GPR clutter reduction

2008 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2008
The clutter reduction is one of the most important problems in the ground penetrating radar (GPR) applications. The detection performance of GPR is heavily limited by clutters. In this paper, a novel and simple clutter reduction method based on the design of a symmetry filter, which is adapted to B-scan, is presented. Compared with average subtraction,

GPR Method for Determining the Electrical Properties of Soils

Proceedings, 2012
The paper studies the possibility of quantitative processing the GPR data obtained in a laboratory, and determining the dielectric permittivity and conductivity of a medium. Experimental studies are made using radargrams of soil samples with specified values of moisture and conductivity. The methods of quantitative processing of radargrams are proposed

OPTIMAL SIGNAL PROCESSING METHODS IN GPR

2013
In the past three decades, a lot of various applications of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) took place in real life. There are important challenges of this radar in civil applications and also in military applications. In this paper, the fundamentals of GPR systems will be covered and three important signal processing methods (Wavelet Transform, Matched
