Pediatric Idiopathic Multicentric Castleman Disease Is Often Severe But Responsive to Siltuximab

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is a potentially fatal immunologic disorder marked by widespread lymphadenopathy and inflammation. Siltuximab, an interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) inhibitor, is the only FDA‐approved treatment for adult patients with iMCD.

Unified Green’s Function Retrieval by Cross Correlation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
It has been shown by many authors that the cross correlation of two recordings of a diffuse wave field at different receivers yields the Green’s function between these receivers.

The Neural Network Fitting Method for Green’s Function of Finite Water Depth

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In marine hydrodynamics, the core of the boundary element method (BEM) lies in the numerical calculation of the free-surface Green’s function. With the rise of artificial intelligence, using neural networks to fit Green’s function has become a new trend,

MATRIX GREEN’S FUNCTION OF DOUBLE-DIFFUSIVITY PROBLEM AND ITS APPLICATIONS TO PROBLEMS WITH INNER POINT SOURCE

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2019
The matrix Green’s function of the initial-boundary value problem of admixture double-diffusivity is defined. The initial-boundary value problem with a point source is formulated for the matrix elements for determination of the matrix Green’s function ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Nonreciprocal Green’s function retrieval by cross correlation

open access: yes, 2006
The cross correlation of two recordings of a diffuse acoustic wave field at different receivers yields the Green’s function between these receivers. In nearly all cases considered so far the wave equation obeys time-reversal invariance and the Green’s ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
