Mating Conditions and Management Practices Influence Pregnancy Scanning Outcomes Differently between Ewe Breeds

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
Sheep production in southern Australia may vary by breed, time of year, production output (wool, meat, or both), region and seasonal influence. Sheep producers with flocks of approximately 300–500 ewes (n = 58) were recruited across southern Australia to

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The State of Litter of Pigs in the Conditions of the Complex [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
The state of litter of large white pigs in industrial conditions was studied. Embryonic mortality is higher during the first 30 days of littering (21.6%) – in the period of histotrophic feeding of fetuses – before the beginning of placental connection ...

Relationship between the Number of Fetuses and the Blood Constituents of Beagles in Late Pregnancy.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1993
The relationship between the number of fetuses and the blood constituents in late pregnant beagles was examined. The red blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit values in late pregnancy were found to be negatively correlated to the number of fetuses.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Intraocular lens power calculation in eyes with short axial length

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
Aim: To evaluate and compare the predictive capacity of four intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas (SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1, and Haigis) in eyes shorter than 22.0 mm. Setting and Design: Observational study.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Copy number variations analysis in a cohort of 47 fetuses and newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernia

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, 2022
AbstractObjectivesThe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), characterized by malformation of the diaphragm and lung hypoplasia, is a common and severe birth defect that affects around 1 in 4000 live births. However, the etiology of most cases of CDH remains unclear.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
