Recurrence and massive extraocular extension of choroidal malignant melanoma after vitrectomy and endoresection

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
Vitrectomy and endoresection is an alternative to enucleation for the treatment of large malignant choroidal melanoma. We report a rare case of extensive recurrence of choroidal malignant melanoma with extraocular extension 11 years after surgical ...

The genetic landscape of copy number variation in a Vietnamese cohort of 5008 fetuses with clinical anomalies during pregnancy

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Copy number variation (CNV) analysis is a powerful tool for discovering structural genomic variation. Still, no program uses this tool to analyze chromosomal aneuploidies in the Vietnamese population. Pregnant women attending routine prenatal checkups in Vietnam from October 2018 to May 2021 were included in this study and contributed ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Association between hyperacuity defects and retinal microstructure in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
Purpose: To improve our understanding of hyperacuity defects measured with preferential hyperacuity perimetry (PHP) by correlating PHP findings with the retinal microstructural changes visible on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) in ...

Investigation of the effectiveness of ultrasonography in determining pregnancy and the number of fetuses on the 35th day of pregnancy in Awassi sheep

open access: yesJournal of Advances in VetBio Science and Techniques, 2022
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effectiveness of transabdominal ultrasonographic imaging on the 35th day of pregnancy in determining the pregnancy status and number of fetuses in sheep. 69 Awassi sheep were used in the study. Sheep were mated after oestrus synchronization during the breeding season.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Performance of screening for aneuploidies by cell-free DNA analysis of maternal blood in twin pregnancies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives To report clinical implementation of cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) analysis of maternal blood in screening for trisomies 21, 18 and 13 in twin pregnancies and examine variables that could influence the failure rate of the test.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
