Automated FRAP microscopy for high‐throughput analysis of protein dynamics in chromatin organization and transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoboMic is an automated confocal microscopy pipeline for high‐throughput functional imaging in living cells. Demonstrated with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), it integrates AI‐driven nuclear segmentation, ROI selection, bleaching, and analysis.

Measurement and effects of teaching quality : an empirical model applied to masters programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This study applies service quality and customer satisfaction theory to the field of education, and particularly to postgraduate studies. It examines the impact of multiple indicators of teaching quality on student satisfaction.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Teaching for Quality Learning Online [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The majority of online instructional programs are transmissive, viewing learning as passive, rather than as interactive and engaging — important attributes for the promotion of higher order learning. We argue that the lack of clear pedagogical models for online learning is a critical limiting factor in the development of quality teaching online.

STUDENTS’ EXPECTATION ON TEACHERS’ QUALITIESIN CLASS ROOM TEACHING [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The term quality is frequently mentioned in the context of teaching. Every so often, we hear students’ complaint of unclear teachers and we hear instructors state that they have explained a difficult concept clearly.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Foundation teaching: a quality improvement programme to improve the quality of structured F1 teaching [PDF]

open access: yesFuture Healthcare Journal, 2019
Learning and teaching are central tenets of the Foundation Programme Curriculum and the NHS Foundation Programme highlights the need for protected teaching time. We sought to assess and improve the quality of the current structured educational sessions in a single hospital in Northern Ireland.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
