Rhizosphere Mortierella strain of alfalfa exerted weed growth inhibition by inducing expression of plant hormone-related genes

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionWeeds are significant factors that detrimentally affect crop health and hinder optimal herbage yield. Rhizosphere microorganisms play crucial roles in plant growth, development, and nutrient uptake.

Effects of Salinity and Water Depth on Germination of Phragmites australis in Coastal Wetland of the Yellow River Delta

open access: yes, 2012
Phragmites australis, a perennial herb and a widespread species, is widely distributed in coastal wetland in the Yellow River Delta. Laboratory experiments were carried out to assess the effects of water and salinity on seed germination of P.

Influence of natural fibers on physical, mechanical, and fire‐resistant properties of microconcrete

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examined the influence of natural fibers on the physical, mechanical, and fire‐resistant properties of microconcrete, in comparison with conventional polypropylene fibers used in cement composites. The fibers were characterized by FTIR and TGA/DSC to assess their composition and thermal stability, and FTIR was also performed after ...

Evolutionary patterns of soil salinization and saline-alkali land types in the Yellow River Delta: A spatiotemporal analysis from 2002 to 2022

open access: yes
The Yellow River Delta is one of China's three principal estuarine deltas. Nonetheless, land salinization has become a major constraint on agricultural production and regional development in the Yellow River Delta.

Ontogeny of foraging behaviour in an opportunistic gull inhabiting urban marine ecosystems

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Urbanization affects ecosystems by reducing biodiversity and displacing species from native habitats. While some suffer, others, like urban wildlife, adapt through innovative feeding and behaviours that improve their fitness in human‐altered settings. Despite research on wildlife in urban areas, the development of foraging behaviour in urban species is

GmHs1-1 and GmqHS1 Simultaneously Contribute to the Domestication of Soybean Hard-Seededness

open access: yesPlants
Seed physical dormancy (hard-seededness) is an interesting ecological phenomenon and important agronomic trait. The loss of seed coat impermeability/hard-seededness is a key target trait during the domestication of leguminous crops which allows seeds to ...

Spatiotemporal Distribution Characteristics of Soil Organic Carbon in Newborn Coastal Wetlands of the Yellow River Delta Estuary

open access: yes, 2014
The distribution and seasonal variation of soil organic carbon (SOC) in newborn coastal wetland of the Yellow River Delta (YRD) estuary at eastern China were studied based on monitoring data in 2009 at two transects from the bank of the Yellow River to ...

Cumulative Duration and Habitat Selection Across the Annual‐Cycle Stages: Links to Human Modification in Two Declining Shorebirds

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
First multi‐season analysis linking cumulative duration and habitat selection to human modification in two declining shorebirds. A total of 160 cumulative duration was identified at four periods for two species. Longer cumulative duration correlate with higher human modification in coastal wetlands during northward migration and winter.

Integrated multispectral imaging, germination phenotype, and transcriptomic analysis provide insights into seed vigor responsive mechanisms in quinoa under artificial accelerated aging

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Seed vigor is an important trait closely related to improved seed quality and long-term germplasm conservation, and it gradually decreases during storage, which has become a major concern for agriculture.

From politics to economics: The investigation of the determinants of local administrative hierarchy in the Tang–Song transition

open access: yesAsia‐Pacific Economic History Review, Volume 65, Issue 1, Page 39-78, March 2025.
Abstract This study collects original data to examine the determinants of classification criteria of county hierarchy and its rank variations during the Tang–Song period. The results reveal that the county hierarchy was affected by both economic and political situations, with more emphasis on politics in Tang and economics in Song.
