The serological relationship between Theileria parva (Muguga) and Theileria lawrence from Rhodesia
Veterinary Record, 1977Thirty-eight sera from cattle from a herd in Rhodesia naturally infected with Theileria lawrencei were titrated with the indirect immunofluorescent test against schizont antigens of T parva (Muguga) and T lawrencei from Rhodesia. T lawrencei was found to be indistinguishable from T parva with the test.

Theileria parva: Possible serological test for East Coast fever
Experimental Parasitology, 1968Abstract Direct conglutination and conglutinating complement-absorption tests were utilized in studies on East Coast fever (Theileria parva infection) using horse serum as a source of complement. Addition of rabbit antisheep red cell antibody and one volume of 1 10 inactivated horse serum eliminated initial difficulties in obtaining an ...

Heterotransplantation of Theileria parva-infected cells to athymic mice
Nature, 1975CONGENITALLY athymic (nude) mice have been used for the heterotransplantation and maintenance of human tumours1–6. In many cases aplasia of the thymus is sufficient to allow tumour growth and other immunosuppressive treatments are apparently unnecessary.

Growth Characteristics of Theileria parva-Infected Bovine Lymphoblast Cultures
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1971SUMMARY Cells were cultured from spleen of cattle experimentally and naturally infected with Theileria parva, the etiologic agent of East Coast fever (ecf). These cells, which were identified morphologically as lymphoblasts, were grown continuously in suspension culture.

Theileria parva epidemics: a case study in eastern Zambia
Veterinary Parasitology, 2002This paper presents the results of the follow-up of three sentinel herds between 1994 and 2000 during an East Coast fever (ECF) epidemic in eastern Zambia. The animals of the sentinel herds were closely monitored clinically and serologically together with detailed Rhipicephalus appendiculatus counts.

Characterisation of Theileria parva isolates from Kiambu district, Kenya
Veterinary Parasitology, 2004Four Theileria parva isolates from Muguga area of Kiambu district, Kenya, were used to establish schizont-infected cell lines. Their protein antigens were then separated by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS page).
