Mutual Adaptation and Influence: Review of Latent Dynamics Models in Human–Robot Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots are becoming better teammates by learning hidden patterns in how people act. This review covers how state‐of‐the‐art approaches leverage these patterns to help robots not only react but also anticipate and guide cooperation. Here, we synthesize a unifying framework for these approaches, classify and review existing works, and highlight key ...

Continuum Robots in Surgery: From Engineering Design to Clinical Practice

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
The hyper‐redundant nature of continuum robot structures enables near‐infinite degrees of freedom leading to immense potential for medical applications. This review provides a historical background of continuum robots and novel ideas shaping their progress to current structural design, sensing technology, modeling techniques, and control methods.

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

CNTN2 Deficiency Disrupts Ascending Auditory Neuroglial Interactions and Redox Homeostasis in Neural Presbycusis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
. ABSTRACT Neural presbycusis disrupts auditory timing and speech perception, yet its molecular basis remains poorly understood. This study identifies Cntn2 as the Ranvier's nodal molecule significantly downregulated in aged auditory nerves. Cntn2 heterozygous knockout (Cntn2+/−) mice showed elevated auditory brainstem response thresholds and prolonged

Using ChatGPT for Thematic Analysis

open access: yesCoRR
The utilisation of AI-driven tools, notably ChatGPT, within academic research is increasingly debated from several perspectives including ease of implementation, and potential enhancements in research efficiency, as against ethical concerns and risks such as biases and unexplained AI operations.

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Boosting Ferroelectricity: 2D and Polymer Ferroelectric Hybrids Enabling Ambipolar Nonvolatile MoS2 Memory Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two‐dimensional CuInP2S6 nanosheets are incorporated into a P(VDF‐TrFE) matrix to induce polarization‐cooperative ferroelectric coupling. The resulting P(VDF‐TrFE)/CuInP2S6 hybrid film exhibits reinforced ferroelectric ordering and reduced coercive electric fields compared with pristine P(VDF‐TrFE).

Temporality and translation: Thematic and non-thematic narrative

open access: yesEncounters in translation
Narrative theorists broadly agree that stories are important to both being and knowing. There is less agreement, however, as to exactly how deep narrative goes. The strongest narrativists—such as David Carr and Alisdair MacIntyre—argue that story is so fundamental that human existence itself has an intrinsic narrative structure.
