Finite element analysis of single pair gear tooth root crack

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In the current research, the analysis about the stress and meshing stiffness for the single gear meshing process with two cases came out, which are case without tooth root cracking and with tooth root cracking. First, the solid assemble model for the two

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Brief Theoretical Analysis on the Ventilation Characteristics of the Multi-Intake-Well Air Supply System in a Spillway Tunnel

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
It is of great significance to study the ventilation characteristics of air supply systems in spillway tunnels, especially for high dams. In this paper, a brief theoretical approach to evaluate the ventilation characteristics of a multi-intake-well air ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Theoretical Analysis of Run Length Distributions for Coupled Motor Proteins

open access: yes, 2019
Motor proteins, also known as biological molecular motors, play important roles in various biological processes. In recent years, properties of single-motor proteins have been intensively investigated using multiple experimental and theoretical tools ...

Stabilization of Measurement-Integrated Simulation by Elucidation of Destabilizing Mechanism

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2010
Measurement-integrated (MI) simulation is a numerical flow analysis method with a feedback mechanism from measurement of a real flow. It correctly reproduces a real flow under inherent ambiguity in a mathematical model or a computational condition.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
