THREE-DIMENSIONAL CONTACT PROBLEM ON INTERACTION BETWEEN ELASTIC LAYER AND TWO PUNCHES UPON FRICTION

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2011
Spatial contact problems are investigated for the finite elastic layer in one face of which two identical rigid elliptical punches are symmetrically indented taking into account friction under various types of boundary conditions on the other face.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL CONTACT PROBLEM FOR A TRANSVERSELY ISOTROPIC SOLID

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2013
The spatial contact problem with an unknown contact domain is investigated for a transversely isotropic elastic half-space the boundary of which is perpendicular to the planes of isotropy.

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

ASYMPTOTIC SOLUTIONS OF MIXED PROBLEMS FOR ELASTIC STRIP AND WEDGE

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2010
Asymptotic solutions are derived for two new theory elasticity problems with mixed boundary conditions. The first problem is about a shear crack in a strip for different types of boundary conditions on the outer faces of the strip.

Inferring Agent Behavior and Economic Information, with Free Entry and Exit of Firms [PDF]

open access: yes
This article proposes an identity regarding economic outcomes when producers maximize profits, with free entry and exit of firms. The identity links consumer and producer theory and leads to several results that contribute to understand what should -and ...

Adaptive 4D‐Printed Vascular Stents With Low‐Temperature‐Activated and Intelligent Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microarchitected coronary artery stents were fabricated using a polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based shape memory polymer (SMP) composite via projection micro‐stereolithography (PµSL) 4D printing. By incorporating diethyl phthalate (DEP) as a plasticizer, the thermal transition temperature (Ttran) was modulated to about 37°C, enabling rapid and autonomous ...

A Biologically‐Architected Wear and Damage‐Resistant Nanoparticle Coating From the Radular Teeth of Cryptochiton stelleri

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.

Optimization of Conformal Mapping Functions used in Developing Closed-Form Solutions for Underground Structures with Conventional cross Sections [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining and Geo-Engineering, 2015
Elastic solutions applicable to single underground openings usually suffer from geometry related simplification. Most tunnel shapes possess two axes of symmetry while a wide range of geometries used in tunneling practice involve only one symmetry axis. D-

Derivation of the Hicks Elasticity of Substitution from the Input Distance Function [PDF]

open access: yes
The Hicks or direct elasticity of substitution is traditionally derived from the production function. This paper exploits duality theory to present a more general derivation from the input distance function, which is exactly dual to the Shadow Elasticity

Electron–Matter Interactions During Electron Beam Nanopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article reviews the electron–matter interactions important to nanopatterning with electron beam lithography (EBL). Electron–matter interactions, including secondary electron generation routes, polymer radiolysis, and electron beam induced charging, are discussed.
