Software Quality: From Theory to Practice [PDF]

open access: yes2010 Seventh International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology, 2010
For over ten years, the first author of this paper (IR) has been teaching Software Quality in the traditional fashion where students are presented with materials through lecture and tutorial format. Her experience has been that concepts are difficult to convey, particularly if the students do not have prior industrial experience.

A Kernel Based Neighborhood Discriminant Submanifold Learning for Pattern Classification

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
We propose a novel method, called Kernel Neighborhood Discriminant Analysis (KNDA), which can be regarded as a supervised kernel extension of Locality Preserving Projection (LPP).

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Automatic Human Facial Expression Recognition Based on Integrated Classifier From Monocular Video with Uncalibrated Camera

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2017
An automatic recognition framework for human facial expressions from a monocular video with an uncalibrated camera is proposed. The expression characteristics are first acquired from a kind of deformable template, similar to a facial muscle distribution.

ELS: A Fast Parameter-Free Edition Algorithm With Natural Neighbors-Based Local Sets for k Nearest Neighbor

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The instance reduction is one of the data preprocessing methods and aims to remove noises and (or) redundant instances from the training set. In the instance reduction, one of the most representative techniques is the edition method which can remove ...

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

A Fuzzy Ensemble Method With Deep Learning for Multi-Robot System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In a multi-robot system, situation assessment evaluates the current situation quantitatively to help decision-makers make the best decision. Conventional situation assessment methods ignore the initiative of each robot, so it often encounters bottlenecks.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
