Advanced Hybrid Closed Loop Systems in Pregnancy: A Retrospective Study of Women With Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
In a cohort of 42 women who used hybrid closed loop systems in pregnancy, time in the pregnancy target range (3.5–7.8 mmol/L) increased from 57% (44.5%–65%) at first visit to 73% (65%–82%) at 34 weeks (p < 0.001). Frequency of severe hypoglycaemia was low and there were no episodes of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Conservation of Neuron‐Astrocyte Correlated Activity in Developing Sensory Pathways

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 5, May 2026.
Astrocytes and neurons in the superior colliculus exhibit spatiotemporal correlated activity before eye opening. Each neuronal wave is followed by a calcium wave in astrocytes. Spillover of glutamate activates mGluR5 and mGluR3 in astrocytes. ABSTRACT Neurons in developing sensory organs exhibit prolonged burst firing before the onset of sensory ...

Population Pharmacokinetics and Dosing Simulations of Pentobarbital in the Pediatric Population

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 66, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Pentobarbital is a barbiturate with sedative and anticonvulsant properties, occasionally used in pediatric patients for preoperative sedation, deep sedation during mechanical ventilation, and seizure control. Despite its long‐standing clinical use, age‐appropriate dosing remains challenging due to variability across studies and limited ...

Exploring Health Locus of Control and Risk Perception: Connecting Efficacy to Protective Action Through Winter Weather Forecast Messages

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Through a 2 × 2 between‐subjects experimental design varying winter weather forecasts and health impact information, we investigated the influence of efficacy and health locus of control (HLOC) on risk perception and protective behavioral intention.

Cerebral Hemodynamic Changes During Cardiac Surgery: A Feasibility MR Study in Piglets

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 5, May 2026.
Congenital heart disease surgery in infants requires cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), which increases the risk of brain injury. Conventional heart‐lung machines (HLMs) cannot operate inside MRI scanners, limiting real‐time assessment of cerebral changes. We developed an MR‐conditional HLM and tested it in piglets during CPB.
