Background: We developed a hemodynamic mathematical model of human circulation coupled to a virtual hemodialyzer. The model was used to explore mechanisms underlying our clinical observations involving hemodialysis.

Overview of Therapeutic Hypothermia [PDF]
Therapeutic hypothermia has proven neuroprotective effects in global cerebral ischemia. Indications for hypothermia induction include cardiac arrest and neonatal asphyxia. The two general methods of induced hypothermia are either surface cooling or endovascular cooling.

Abstract End‐ischemic viability testing by normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) represents an effective strategy to recover liver grafts having initially been discarded for liver transplantation (LT). However, its results in the setting of significant (≥30%) macrovesicular steatosis (MaS) have not been specifically assessed.

Therapeutic hypothermia, introduced more than 5 decades ago, remains an important neuroprotective factor in the surgery for the correction of congenital heart disease, in particular when intraoperative circulatory arrest is required. Hypothermia decreases cerebral metabolism and energy consumption and reduces the extent of degenerative processes such ...

A novel ECG-biomarker for cardiac arrest during hypothermia
Background Treatment of arrhythmias evoked by accidental or therapeutic hypothermia and rewarming remains challenging. We aim to find an ECG-biomarker that can predict ventricular arrhythmias at temperatures occurring in therapeutic and accidental ...

Induced Hypothermia Does Not Harm Hemodynamics after Polytrauma: A Porcine Model
Background. The deterioration of hemodynamics instantly endangers the patients’ life after polytrauma. As accidental hypothermia frequently occurs in polytrauma, therapeutic hypothermia still displays an ambivalent role as the impact on the ...

Background: We retrospectively investigated our hypothesis that pre-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedural therapeutic hypothermia may have clinical advantages in patients with a profound cardiogenic shock complicating anterior ST-segment ...

There are few case reports of utilization of therapeutic hypothermia during pregnancy, and most report successful maternal and fetal outcomes. There is no available evidence that supports withholding therapeutic hypothermia in these patients.
