RIG‐I Mediated Neuron‐Specific IFN Type 1 Signaling in FUS‐ALS Induces Neurodegeneration and Offers New Biomarker‐Driven Individualized Treatment Options for (FUS‐)ALS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using iPSC‐derived motoneurons and postmortem tissue from FUS‐ALS patients, it is demonstrated that increased mitochondrial transcription leads to elevated cytosolic double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) levels. This aberrant accumulation activates a RIG‐I–dependent innate immune response leading to neurodegeneration, which is amenable for FDA‐ and EMA‐approved ...

Neuid: A Novel Neuron‐Enriched LncRNA that Connects Epigenetic Gene Silencing to Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increasing evidence that non‐coding RNAs can become deregulated during pathogenesis is dramatically expanding the space for drug discovery beyond the protein‐coding genome. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as key regulators of cellular function, yet most remain uncharacterized.

18β‐Glycyrrhetinic Acid and a Nano‐Liposomal Formulation Alleviate Depression‐Like Behaviors via the Microglial mTOR‐Autophagy‐NLRP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a novel zebrafish‐based inflammatory screening strategy, we screened and identified 18β‐glycyrrhetinic acid (18β‐GA) as a promising anti‐inflammatory candidate. We uncover a microglial mTOR–autophagy–NLRP3 axis that constitutes the mechanistic core of 18β‐GA–mediated neuroprotection.

Severe Occupational Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis: A Case Series of Four Patients Requiring Lung Transplantation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an immune‐mediated interstitial lung disease triggered by repeated inhalation of organic or chemical antigens. Occupational exposures account for approximately 19% of all cases. Early diagnosis, identification of the responsible antigen(s), and immediate avoidance of exposure are crucial to prevent ...

Effects of Early Stimulation of the Quadriceps Femoris Muscle After Total Hip Arthroplasty – Pilot Study

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Physical Therapy
Introduction: In the functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty, a very important role is played by the rehabilitation of deficient muscle strength, with the femoral quadriceps being one of the muscles that atrophies most rapidly.

Do childhood trauma and attachment dimensions predict psychotic-like experiences in a non-clinical sample? [PDF]

open access: yesKlinik Psikoloji Dergisi, 2020
Psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) are very common in the healthy population of society and can be seen without being clinically diagnosed. Many studies have emphasized the relationship between PLEs and childhood trauma or attachment dimensions.

Participatory Policy Development: Reflections on Designing the Strong Roots for Our Futures Program in Victoria

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we trace the journey to create the Strong Roots for our Futures Program, a government program to resource and support Traditional Owners to undertake a range of activities in areas where no state recognition existed. We provide a background to state recognition in Victoria before considering the program design, leading to an ...

Development of interactive MRI‐based 3D visualization tools for neuroanatomy education in Latin America

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The study of neuroanatomy is fundamental in many scientific fields. Despite this, it is a challenging subject for students. As technology evolves, it is being increasingly incorporated into educational methods, including the teaching of neuroanatomy. Three‐dimensional (3D) visualizations are well suited for displaying neuroanatomy.
