Thermal aging: A new concept of skin aging
Journal of Dermatological Science Supplement, 2006Summary Background Sunlight damages human skin, resulting in a wrinkled appearance. Human skin temperature, measured inside the dermis by a needle-type thermometer, can be increased up to about 40 °C in direct summer midday sunlight within 15–20 min, and this heat may contribute significantly to sun-induced skin damage.

Thermal aging of molding compounds
2010 11th International Conference on Electronic Packaging Technology & High Density Packaging, 2010The mechanical properties of polymer encapsulating materials change considerably when packages are exposed to elevated temperatures for longer times. Here we report a systematic study on the change in viscoelastic properties of a commercial molding compound which is stored at 175°C for periods of time ranging up to 4 weeks.

Thermal aging of polyvinyl chloride
CEIDP '05. 2005 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2005., 2005This paper reports on the study of the thermal aging of the polyvinyl chloride used in high voltage cables. This study shows that thermal aging changes the electrical properties of the material. We notice that the higher the aging temperature is, the more important is the rate of degradation of the insulator.

The results of thermal endurance tests performed on models of EPR (ethylene-propylene rubber) cables are presented. The problems of selecting the properties related to aging and their endpoints are discussed. A method for obtaining an objective failure criterion for different properties and a unique thermal endurance graph are described.
