Broad band infrared thermal detector

Sensors and Actuators, 1984
Abstract A broad band thermal detector based on pyroelectric materials with temperature-dependent electrical conductivity is described. This detector combines the properties, notably the frequency response, of a thermistor bolometer and a pyroelectric detector. Suitable choice of the detector parameters provides a uniform frequency response above and

Thermalization of a manganin band-cable at 1.4K

Cryogenics, 2009
Abstract The thermalization of wires for electrical connections was measured at temperatures of ∼1.4 K in a pumped 4 He cryostat, using a simple but efficient device composed of a band-cable of 50 manganin wires clamped into a heat sink. We applied a varied input power from 1 up to 20 μ W to the wires and we observed that the power ...

Assessment of MODIS Thermal Emissive Band On-Orbit Calibration

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2011
Sixteen Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer thermal emissive bands (TEBs) cover the wavelength from 3.75 to 14.24 μm. TEB calibration uses data collected from the detector responses to the onboard blackbody (BB) and space view. The BB was designed to operate either at a constant temperature for detector linear gain calibration or at ...

Wide-Band Direct Measurement of Thermal Fluctuations in an Interferometer

Physical Review Letters, 2003
We directly measured mechanical thermal fluctuations in mirrors over three decades of frequency range using a short-length Fabry-Perot interferometer. This is the first such measurement at wide off-resonant frequency band that is much lower than mechanical resonant frequencies.

Thermal activation of carriers from a metallic impurity band

Physical Review B, 1993
Transport and far-infrared transmission measurements are reported on Si-doped GaAs epitaxial films (n≥ the Mott density n 0 ). The spectra display a 1s→2p resonance and a Drude response that persists to low temperatures. An analysis of the temperature dependence of the spectra gives the activation energy for thermal excitation of carriers from the ...

Thermal model of capillary electrophoresis and a method for counteracting thermal band broadening

Journal of Chromatography A, 1990
Thermal band broadening is known to be caused by the temperature dependence of ionic mobility. This dependence also strongly influences the temperature of the capillary by providing positive feedback between the temperature and power density. Previous thermal models of capillary electrophoresis have not fully considered this “autothermal effect”.

Thermalization and recombination in exponential band tail states

physica status solidi c, 2006
AbstractWe present an analytical model that combines the complementary experimental evidence of spatial dispersion (DAP recombination) and energetic dispersion (band tails). The model describes the competition between thermalization and recombination of excess carriers trapped in exponentially distributed (in energy), discrete localized (in space ...

CdSe band-splitting on thermal annealed films

Optical Materials, 2002
Abstract Semiconducting polycrystalline CdSe thin films were prepared on glass substrates by chemical bath at 65 °C. As-deposited films grew in the metastable cubic sphalerite (S) crystalline structure with good stoichiometry. Upon thermal annealing (TA) in Ar+Se2 atmosphere at different temperatures in the range 200–500 °C, the gradual phase ...

Analysis of the Thermal-Structure Coupling of the Band Brake

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
A 3D model of band brake is established with PRO/E software, and its thermal-structure nonlinear coupling is analyzed with finite element software MSC.Marc. Temperature field and stress field distribution of the brake band and the friction linings in braking process are calculated, and the failure mechanism of the connecting bolt is analyzed. All these

Influence of Band Structure on the Thermal Properties of Metals

American Journal of Physics, 1968
The assumption that a three-dimensional band structure is separable greatly simplifies the calculation of various properties of solids. In this paper this approach is demonstrated for thermodynamic properties of metals within the independent-particle model.
