Thermal bubble behaviour in liquid nitrogen under electric fields

open access: yes, 2008
This thesis describes thermally induced bubble behaviour changes in liquid nitrogen (LN2) under electric fields. Cryogenic liquids such as LN2 have been used not only as the coolant but also as the electrical insulator in superconducting and cryogenic ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Test bench for radiative waste heat recovery in steel mills [PDF]

open access: yes
Publisher Copyright: © 2025This paper presents the design, manufacturing, and validation of a test bench for a radiation waste heat recovery system, which can reproduce the operating conditions of a real steelmaking factory, in particular, continuous ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Relationships among Structure, Physicochemical Properties and In Vitro Digestibility of Starches from Ethiopian Food Barley Varieties

open access: yesFoods
Studying diversity in local barley varieties can help advance novel uses for the grain. Therefore, starch was isolated from nine Ethiopian food barley varieties to determine starch structural, pasting, thermal, and digestibility characteristics, as well ...

Thermal characteristics of Australian sedimentary opals

open access: yes, 2002
Naturally occurring opals from three different regions in Australia were studied for their thermal characteristics. All the opals showed initial expansion followed by contraction in thermomechanical analysis (TMA) although the temperature at which the ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Measurements of thermal characteristics in silicon germanium un-cooled micro-bolometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a study of the thermal characteristics of an infrared detector (un-cooled micro-bolometer), based on an amorphous silicon germanium film (a-SixGey:H), deposited by plasma at low temperature (~ 300 ºC) and compatible with the standard CMOS ...

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and
