Regulating Protein Immobilization During Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis in Hyaluronan Microgels

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Bifunctional microgels carrying a linear DNA template and Ni2+‐activated NTA moieties are used as platform for cell‐free protein synthesis and in situ protein immobilization. By varying the concentration of NTA moieties in the microgels, the amount of GFP‐His immobilized inside the microgel and released to the microgel environment can be regulated ...

First-Principles Study of Lattice Thermal Conductivity of Td-WTe2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The structural and thermal properties of bulk Td-WTe2 have been studied by using first-principles calculations. We find that the lattice thermal conductivity of WTe2 is anisotropic, with the highest value along a-axis and lowest one along the c-axis at 300 K.

Thermal Instability with Anisotropic Thermal Conduction and Adiabatic Cosmic Rays: Implications for Cold Filaments in Galaxy Clusters

open access: yes, 2010
Observations of the cores of nearby galaxy clusters show H$\alpha$ and molecular emission line filaments. We argue that these are the result of {\em local} thermal instability in a {\em globally} stable galaxy cluster core.

Thermal conductivity of supercooled water [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
The heat capacity of supercooled water, measured down to -37 C, shows an anomalous increase as temperature decreases. The thermal diffusivity, i. e., the ratio of the thermal conductivity and the heat capacity per unit volume, shows a decrease. These anomalies may be associated with a hypothetical liquid-liquid critical point in supercooled water ...

Flexible and Accurate Simulation of Radiation Cooling with FETD Method

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Thermal management and simulation are becoming increasingly important in many areas of engineering applications. There are three cooling routes for thermal management, namely thermal conduction, thermal convection and thermal radiation, among which the ...

Research progress of semiconductive shielding layer of HVDC cable

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2019
As an indispensable part of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable, the semiconductive shielding layer plays the role of uniforming electric field in the cable.

On the Efficiency of Thermal Conduction in Galaxy Clusters

open access: yes, 2018
Galaxy clusters host a large reservoir of diffuse plasma with radially-varying temperature profiles. The efficiency of thermal conduction in the intracluster medium (ICM) is complicated by the existence of turbulence and magnetic fields, and has received

A co-training style semi-supervised artificial neural network modeling and its application in thermal conductivity prediction of polymeric composites filled with BN sheets

open access: yesEnergy and AI, 2021
Predicting the thermal conductivity of polymeric composites filled with BN sheets is helpful for fabricating thermal management material. In this study, a co-training style semi-supervised artificial neural network model (Co-ANN) was proposed to take ...

Low-Temperature Coherent Thermal Conduction in Thin Phononic Crystal Membranes

open access: yesCrystals, 2016
In recent years, the idea of controlling phonon thermal transport coherently using phononic crystals has been introduced. Here, we extend our previous numerical studies of ballistic low-temperature heat transport in two-dimensional hole-array phononic ...
