Thermal Degradation of Sulforaphane in Aqueous Solution

Sulforaphane, a cancer chemopreventive agent identified from broccoli, was degraded in an aqueous solution at 50 and 100 degrees C. The reaction mixtures were extracted with methylene chloride and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

Peculiarities of the Thermal Degradation of Chlorosulphonated Polyethylenes

Abstract A kinetic study is made of the thermal degradation of chlorosulphonated polyethylenes containing 3–40 wt% of Cl and 1.4–2.2 wt% of sulphur. It is concluded that the instability of these polymers is principally due to activation of the CHCl structures in the β-position to the [sbnd]CH2[sbnd]SO2Cl groups.

Thermal degradation of actinomycins to dioxopiperazines

The dioxopiperazines resulting from thermal degradation of several actinomycins were identified by g.l.c. comparison with synthetic compounds, providing a convenient approach to amino-acid sequence determination. In a comparison of relative yields of various dioxopiperazines, different degradative pathways were apparent at different temperatures.
