Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

The Theoretical Study of the Deuterium Enrichment of H-D gas mixture in Continuous-Type Thermal-Diffusion Columns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The separation equations for enrichment of deuterium in H-D (Hydrogen-Deuterium) gas mixture by continuous-type thermal diffusion columns were developed theoretically. The transport equation modeling treats the enriching and stripping sections separately

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Improvement  in Enrichment of Heavy Water from Water-Isotopes Mixture in Flat-Plate Thermal-Diffusion Columns with Optimal Plate Spacing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The optimun plate spacings for maximum separation, maximum production rate and minimum column length in a flat-plate thermal diffusion column for the improvement in separation of heavy water (D2O) from water isotopes mixture (H2O-HDO-D2O) have been ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Automatic detection of regions in spinach canopies responding to soil moisture deficit using combined visible and thermal imagery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Thermal imaging has been used in the past for remote detection of regions of canopy showing symptoms of stress, including water deficit stress. Stress indices derived from thermal images have been used as an indicator of canopy water status, but these ...
