Effect of suppression of local distortion on magnetic, electrical and thermal transport properties of Cr substituted bi-layer manganite LaSr$_{2}$Mn$_{2}$O$_{7}$ [PDF]
We have investigated magnetic, electrical and thermal transport properties (Seebeck effect and thermal conductivity) of LaSr$_{2}$Mn$_{2-y}$Cr$_{y}$O$_{7}$ polycrystalline samples ($y$=0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6).

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Synergistic Electric and Thermal Effects of Electrochromic Devices
Electrochromic devices are the preferred devices for smart windows because they work independently of uncontrollable environmental factors and rely more on the user’s personal feelings to adjust actively.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Effect of cut-off walls on submarine groundwater discharge in non-isothermal conditions
Temperature could change the migration characteristics of coastal groundwater. However, research on groundwater discharge processes under the influences of cut-off walls has been limited to isothermal conditions.

Heating of Micro-protrusions in Accelerating Structures
The thermal and field emission of electrons from protrusions on metal surfaces is a possible limiting factor on the performance and operation of high-gradient room temperature accelerator structures.

Thermal Hall-Senftleben effect [PDF]
This paper is devoted to a prediction of new effect - the occurrence of a heat flow perpendicular both to temperature gradient and magnetic field in molecular dielectric where rotary degrees of freedom of molecules are defrozen. The method of the moments considering processes of phonon scattering on molecules with their rotary condition changing is ...
