Pour une évaluation plus géographique de l'impact environnemental des plans d'eau, le cas de la température de l'eau du Grand Étang de Cieux (Haute-Vienne)

open access: yesPhysio-Géo
The goal of the paper is to assess the temperature effect of a large (40 ha) pond with a surface weir, damming a confluence zone of four streams in Limousin (French Massif Central).

A simple modelling on transmission torque of eddy‐current axial magnetic couplings considering thermal effect

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2022
This paper proposes modelling on the transmission torque of an eddy‐current axial magnetic coupling (EAMC) considering the thermal effect. A new and simple equivalent reluctance network is established to obtain the magnetic flux density based on the two ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Thermal management of an unconsolidated shallow urban groundwater body [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study presents the development of tools for the sustainable thermal management of a shallow unconsolidated urban groundwater body in the city of Basel (Switzerland). The concept of the investigations is based on (1) a characterization of the present

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

TEFC Induction Motors Thermal Models: A parameter Sensitivity Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
With the increasing pressures on electric motor manufacturers to develop smaller and more efficient electric motors, there is a trend to carry out more thermal analysis in parallel with the traditional electromagnetic design.

Thermal Effect of Different Laying Modes on Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) Insulation and a New Estimation on Cable Ampacity

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper verifies the fluctuation on thermal parameters and ampacity of the high-voltage cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables with different insulation conditions and describes the results of a thermal aging experiment on the XLPE insulation with ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Effect of cut-off walls on submarine groundwater discharge in non-isothermal conditions

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
Temperature could change the migration characteristics of coastal groundwater. However, research on groundwater discharge processes under the influences of cut-off walls has been limited to isothermal conditions.

Thermal effects in dislocation theory

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2016
The mechanical behaviors of polycrystalline solids are determined by the interplay between phenomena governed by two different thermodynamic temperatures: the configurational effective temperature that controls the density of dislocations, and the ordinary kinetic-vibrational temperature that controls activated depinning mechanisms and thus deformation
