PLASMA THERMALIZATION

The Twelfth Marcel Grossmann Meeting, 2012
We have studied thermalization of optically thick pair plasma with baryon loading by particle collisions and followed the evolution of distribution functions starting far from equilibrium con…guration. With this goal we solved numerically relativistic Boltzmann equations with collisional integrals given by QED matrix elements for the corresponding ...

Thermal evolution of flare plasma

Solar Physics, 1983
The evolution of hot thermal plasma in solar flares is analyzed by a single-temperature model applied to continuum emission in the 5 keV < E < 13 keV spectral range. The general trend that the thermal plasma observed in soft X-rays is heated by the non-thermal electrons that emit as the hard X-ray bursts is confirmed by the observation of an electron ...

Stabilization of thermal plasma in an plasma generator

IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. PPPS-2001 Pulsed Power Plasma Science 2001. 28th IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science and 13th IEEE International Pulsed Power Conference (Cat. No.01CH37255), 2002
Summary form only given, as follows. A simple-structured thermal plasma generator for waste treatment has been studied. The thermal plasma technology applied to waste treatment has undoubtedly gained high importance owing to its outstanding properties such as flexibility, compact reactor, and clean treatment.

Generation and Thermalization of Plasma Waves

The Physics of Fluids, 1958
Generation of hydromagnetic and ion cyclotron waves by an induction coil is considered for a cylindrical plasma in a uniform confining magnetic field. Resonance widths are calculated and power absorption is calculated and compared to ohmic losses in the induction coil.

Plasma generators for thermal plasma processes

International Journal of Materials Research, 2011
Abstract An overview is given of Plasma Generators developed with the focus on application in thermal spraying, some of which might even find use in other thermal plasma processes. The construction and operation principle of conventional plasma torches as well as of plasma torches with special features are presented.

Thermal plasmas for nanofabrication

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2011
In this paper, we review the recent progress in nanofabrication by thermal plasmas, and attempt to define some of the most important issues in the field. For synthesis of nanoparticles, the experimental studies in the past five years are briefly introduced; the theoretical and numerical modelling works of the past 20 years are reviewed with some ...

How thermal are (certain) thermal plasmas?

ICOPS 2000. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 27th IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (Cat. No.00CH37087), 2002
Summary form only given, as follows. In a recent study Gao et al. (1999) have examined the assumption of a Maxwellian electron distribution function for an inductively coupled argon plasma at atmospheric pressure. By solving the Boltzmann equation the authors demonstrate that in fact deviations from a Maxwellian distribution can be detected.

Plasma chemistry and environmental protection: Application of thermal and non-thermal plasmas

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1995
The paper presents extensive opportunities for the use of thermal and non-thermal plasmas in chemical processes related to environmental protection. It describes particular homo- and heterogeneous reactions, resulting in decomposition of hazardous compounds. Examples refer to the processes at laboratory and on the industrial scale.
