Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Analysis of a Thermal Plasma Diamond CVD System

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2001
This paper deals with the analysis of a typical engineering system utilizing thermal plasma - a system for Diamond Chemical Vapor Deposition. It defines the system - a slightly overexpanded plasma jet impinging at a downstream -located substrate ...

Numerical analysis of in-flight particles in plasma jet with an externally applied magnetic field

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2016
In this work, three-dimensional, time-dependent magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of a direct-current (dc) plasma spray with an externally applied magnetic field are performed, and also the trajectories and heating histories of in-flight particles in

Thermalization of a nonequilibrium electron-positron-photon plasma

open access: yes, 2007
Starting from a nonequilibrium configuration we analyse the essential role of the direct and the inverse binary and triple interactions in reaching an asymptotic thermal equilibrium in a homogeneous isotropic electron-positron-photon plasma.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Optimization of Non-Thermal Plasma Treatment in an In Vivo Model Organism. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Non-thermal plasma is increasingly being recognized for a wide range of medical and biological applications. However, the effect of non-thermal plasma on physiological functions is not well characterized in in vivo model systems.

High Momentum Dilepton Production from Jets in a Quark Gluon Plasma

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss the emission of high momentum lepton pairs in central Au+Au collisions at RHIC ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$200 GeV) and Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$5500 GeV). Yields of dileptons produced through interactions of jets with thermal partons

Synthesis and characterization of spherical amorphous alumo-silicate nanoparticles using RF thermal plasma method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The RF thermal plasma synthesis route was used for the preparation of alumo-silicate spherical particles. Homogeneous solid mixtures of raw materials (Al2O3, SiO2 and KOH) were used as precursors.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...
