Impacts of Wind Power on Thermal Generation Unit Commitment and Dispatch
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2007This paper proposes a new simulation method that can fully assess the impacts of large-scale wind power on system operations from cost, reliability, and environmental perspectives. The method uses a time series of observed and predicted 15-min average wind speeds at foreseen onshore- and offshore-wind farm locations.

Optimization of cogeneration thermal power units
Thermal Engineering, 2009We present a procedure for comparing the efficiencies of cogeneration thermal power units that takes variable conditions of their operation into account. A combined-cycle plant operating in accordance with the STIG cycle (i.e., with mixing of working fluids), a gas turbine unit equipped with a gas economizer, and a steam turbine unit equipped with a ...

Comparative analysis of external characteristics of nuclear power units and thermal power units
2019 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia), 2019In recent years, nuclear power units in China begin to participate in peak regulation and have a certain capacity of load tracking. These nuclear power units show different characteristics from those running with fixed load and share some similarities with thermal power units.

Coordinated Control Scheme of Thermal Power Unit Considering Wind Power Connection
2020 IEEE 3rd Student Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (SCEMS), 2020Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind turbine (WT) participating in frequency regulation must consider the termination, but the termination inevitably leads to frequency secondary drop. This paper proposes a control strategy introducing the frequency regulation functions of thermal power units and PMSG, and analyzes the similarities ...

Thermal unit commitment with nonlinear power flow constraints
IEEE Power Engineering Society. 1999 Winter Meeting (Cat. No.99CH36233), 1999A formulation of the thermal unit commitment problem including nonlinear power flow constraints is presented, making the use of more realistic constraint models possible. It also allows potential VAr production to be used as a criterion for the commitment of generators in strategic locations of the network.

A Large-Scale Mathmodel for 200 MW Thermal Power Unit
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987Abstract A full-scope mathmodel for the domestic 200 MW BTG unit had been developed. As the power generating unit is an extremely complex object, the system model is a large - scale one, consisting of many hundreds of parameters and equations. This model is decomposed into a great number of coordinated subsystems, including several interconnected ...
