Black-start strategy for power grids including fast cut thermal power units
2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013The restoration of a power system after a black-out mainly includes following stages of black-start, network reconfiguration, and load restoration. The fast cut back (FCB) function of thermal power units assures the operation of auxiliary equipments after a power network black-out, which is helpful in black-start.

Advanced control of a thermal power unit
1979 18th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control including the Symposium on Adaptive Processes, 1979Control at varying load of the steam pressure and the steam temperatures delivered by the steam generator has been performed by a multivariable numerical control system on a thermal power plant (250 MW) located at Martigues-Ponteau. This experiment has also allowed us to show off other evaluation criteria than traditional one in order to establish the ...

New Coordinated Control Design for Thermal-Power-Generation Units
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2010A nonlinear model combining boiler-turbine-generator dynamic characteristics for a thermal-power-generation unit is first introduced. Based on the nonlinear model, a new coordinated control design is proposed using the backstepping method incorporating the coordinated passivation approach that considers the entire boiler-turbine-generator system as a ...

Thermal unit commitment including optimal AC power flow constraints
Proceedings of the Thirty-First Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2002The authors propose a new algorithm for unit commitment that employs a Lagrange relaxation technique with a new augmentation of the Lagrangian. The new augmentation involves a duplication of variables that allows relaxation of the coupling between generator time-spanning constraints and system-wide instantaneous constraints.

Re-circulating power, unit costs and thermal pollution of fusion power stations
Nuclear Fusion, 1978The fraction of electrical power re-circulated is shown to be of crucial importance in assessing the credibility of fusion systems as commercial reactors, and it is advocated that should replace the more commonly used criterion Q, the energy amplification in the fusion reactor itself.

Thermal Tests of LMS100 Gas-Turbine Units at the Dzhubga Thermal Power Plant
Power Technology and Engineering, 2016Test results at different loads and ambient temperatures for LMS100 PB gas-turbine units at the Dzhubga thermal power plant are discussed. The performance indicators for these gas turbine units and their turbine equipment, combustion chambers, and air cooling systems are determined.

An isotope‐powered thermal storage unit for space applications
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1991An Isotope‐Powered Thermal Storage Unite (ITSU), that would store and utilize heat energy in a ‘‘pulsed’’ fashion in space operations, is described. Properties of various radioisotopes are considered in conjunction with characteristics of thermal energy storage materials, to evaluate possible implementation of such a device.

This article deals with economic aspects, i.e. identification of reserves of thermal efficiency of obsolete equipment in the example of power units of thermal power plants, which have a useful life exceeding 50%. As a result of operation of such equipment, useful heat required for power generation is lost. The developed new approach allows to detect in

Investigation of Thermal Characteristics of Low Power LED Units
2018 Twentieth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2018The progress expanded of LED units' topology has a rising trend especially the lower power of them that is mostly utilized indoors. From this goal, issues pointed to study and analyze the performance of low power LEDs. This paper presents the experimental procedure using Ti200 thermography Fluke to analyze output heat from low power LEDs.
