Coordinated Control Scheme of Thermal Power Unit Considering Wind Power Connection

2020 IEEE 3rd Student Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (SCEMS), 2020
Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind turbine (WT) participating in frequency regulation must consider the termination, but the termination inevitably leads to frequency secondary drop. This paper proposes a control strategy introducing the frequency regulation functions of thermal power units and PMSG, and analyzes the similarities ...

Thermal unit commitment with nonlinear power flow constraints

IEEE Power Engineering Society. 1999 Winter Meeting (Cat. No.99CH36233), 1999
A formulation of the thermal unit commitment problem including nonlinear power flow constraints is presented, making the use of more realistic constraint models possible. It also allows potential VAr production to be used as a criterion for the commitment of generators in strategic locations of the network.

Improving the Performance Efficiency of the Power Units of Thermal Power Plants

Power Technology and Engineering, 2020
The importance of improving the performance efficiency of the thermal power plants is ever-increasing. This is caused by a number of factors. One of the most significant factors is an increase in the share of basic equipment with the service life approaching or exceeding the expected limit.

A Large-Scale Mathmodel for 200 MW Thermal Power Unit

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract A full-scope mathmodel for the domestic 200 MW BTG unit had been developed. As the power generating unit is an extremely complex object, the system model is a large - scale one, consisting of many hundreds of parameters and equations. This model is decomposed into a great number of coordinated subsystems, including several interconnected ...

Black-start strategy for power grids including fast cut thermal power units

2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013
The restoration of a power system after a black-out mainly includes following stages of black-start, network reconfiguration, and load restoration. The fast cut back (FCB) function of thermal power units assures the operation of auxiliary equipments after a power network black-out, which is helpful in black-start.

Advanced control of a thermal power unit

1979 18th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control including the Symposium on Adaptive Processes, 1979
Control at varying load of the steam pressure and the steam temperatures delivered by the steam generator has been performed by a multivariable numerical control system on a thermal power plant (250 MW) located at Martigues-Ponteau. This experiment has also allowed us to show off other evaluation criteria than traditional one in order to establish the ...

New Coordinated Control Design for Thermal-Power-Generation Units

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2010
A nonlinear model combining boiler-turbine-generator dynamic characteristics for a thermal-power-generation unit is first introduced. Based on the nonlinear model, a new coordinated control design is proposed using the backstepping method incorporating the coordinated passivation approach that considers the entire boiler-turbine-generator system as a ...

Thermal unit commitment including optimal AC power flow constraints

Proceedings of the Thirty-First Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2002
The authors propose a new algorithm for unit commitment that employs a Lagrange relaxation technique with a new augmentation of the Lagrangian. The new augmentation involves a duplication of variables that allows relaxation of the coupling between generator time-spanning constraints and system-wide instantaneous constraints.

Impacts of Wind Power on Thermal Generation Unit Commitment and Dispatch

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2007
This paper proposes a new simulation method that can fully assess the impacts of large-scale wind power on system operations from cost, reliability, and environmental perspectives. The method uses a time series of observed and predicted 15-min average wind speeds at foreseen onshore- and offshore-wind farm locations.

Re-circulating power, unit costs and thermal pollution of fusion power stations

Nuclear Fusion, 1978
The fraction of electrical power re-circulated is shown to be of crucial importance in assessing the credibility of fusion systems as commercial reactors, and it is advocated that should replace the more commonly used criterion Q, the energy amplification in the fusion reactor itself.
