Entropy generation in MHD Maxwell nanofluid flow with variable thermal conductivity, thermal radiation, slip conditions, and heat source

open access: yes, 2020
It is important to study heat transfer processes due to fluid flow in the context of entropy because the efficiency of such systems depends on reduction in entropy generation.

Thermal Radiation and MHD Effects in the Mixed Convection Flow of Fe3O4–Water Ferrofluid towards a Nonlinearly Moving Surface

open access: yesProcesses, 2020
This paper investigated the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection flow of Fe3O4-water ferrofluid over a nonlinearly moving surface. The present work focused on how the state of suction on the surface of the moving sheet and the effects of thermal ...

High‐Temperature Oxidation of the CrFeNi Medium‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The oxidation behavior of equiatomic CrFeNi MEA is a key issue that determines this material's suitability for high‐temperature application. The understanding of long‐term behavior is even more crucial than short‐term corrosion effects. The alloy is exposed to synthetic air at 1000, 1050, and 1100 °C for 24, 100, and 1000 h and systematically compared ...

Theoretical Investigation and Optimization of Radiation Thermal Conduction of Thermal-Insulation Polyolefin Foams

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Heat transfer in foams consists of conduction through solid and gaseous phases, convection within the cells as well as radiation through the whole medium.

Numerical Simulations on the Protection of the Molten Salt Thermal Tube under Cloud Occlusion

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2020
Based on the single tube model of the receiver, the temperature drop characteristics of the endothermic tube such as the heat flux, molten salt flow rate and surface convection heat transfer coefficient were studied through numerical simulations on the ...

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

CALPHAD‐Guided Prediction and Interpretation of Phase Formation in Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al Refractory High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study designs Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al refractory high‐entropy alloys with a disordered body‐centered‐cubic A2 crystal structure aiming for improved ductility, lower density, and oxidation resistance. Four alloy compositions are identified by thermodynamic calculations.

On the Emissivity and Absorptivity of Plastic Shading Nets under Natural Conditions

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
It is impossible to directly measure the thermal radiative properties of shading nets because of the net's perforated structure and the difficulty to distinguish the transmitted, reflected, and emitted radiation on the net surface. In addition, Kirchhoff'

Mitigation of Cracks in High‐Performance Nickel‐Based Superalloys in Powder Bed Fusion Laser Beam of Metals Using a Metal Matrix Composite Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...
