Thermal Stability of Proteins

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2006
Abstract: Protein stability is critical to the outcome of nearly all thermally mediated applications to biomaterials such as thermal therapies (including cryosurgery), burn injury, and biopreservation. As such, it is imperative to understand as much as possible about how a protein loses stability and to what extent we can control this through the ...

Thermal stability and protein structure

Biochemistry, 1979
Amino acid sequences have been compared for thermophilic and mesophilic molecules of ferredoxin, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, and lactate dehydrogenase. It is shown that Gly, Ser, Ser, Lys, and Asp in mesophiles are generally substituted by Ala, Ala, Thr, Arg, and Glu, respectively, in thermophiles.

Passive thermal stabilization

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Methods for thermal modeling, analysis and optimization are presented. Modeling distinguishes between three basic types of lens mounts. For analysis also FEA-results are incorporated in the optical model. Optimization with a simple, glass substitution method and a paraxial method is presented.

Baculovirus thermal stability

Journal of Thermal Biology, 1994
Abstract 1. 1. The effect of different temperature treatments on the thermal stability of three different baculoviruses (1 GV and 2 NPVs) was compared. 2. 2. The tests were carried out using Diatraea saccharalis (sugarcane borer) larvae as a host for the three viruses. 3. 3.

Thermal stability of ferroelectric memories

30th Annual Proceedings Reliability Physics 1992, 1992
The authors review the latest fatigue and aging data on ferroelectric memory products and discuss thermal characteristics which limit the nonvolatile data retention storage temperature. They evaluate the effects of thermal excursions on the remanent polarization level in polycrystalline films.

Thermal Stability of Dopamine Transporters

The Journal of Membrane Biology, 2015
The thermal stabilities of the rat and mouse dopamine transporter (DAT) proteins were studied within the temperature range of 0-37°C. The inactivation of the protein was followed by monitoring changes in radioligand-specific binding. We found that the process followed a rate equation with first-order kinetics and was characterized by having a single ...

Thermal Diffusion and Convective Stability

The Physics of Fluids, 1972
The stability of a two-component fluid layer subjected to a temperature gradient has been studied, and the associated thermal diffusion separation has been found to exert a large influence even when the separations are small. The most unexpected and perhaps important result is that an instability has been found which can give rise to convection ...

Thermal stability of acid proteinases

Journal of Dairy Research, 2000
Milk-clotting enzymes are used during the production of cheese to coagulate the casein, allowing the formation of a three-dimensional network that entraps the milk fat. Commercially available milk-clotting enzymes differ with respect to source, specificity, optimum pH and thermostability.

Thermally stabilized combustion

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 1989
AbstractThermally stabilized combustion has a number of unique characteristics which permit the generation of steam or other forms of process energy from the heat of combustion of a gaseous or clean liquid fuel in remarkably compact, integrated apparatus while truly minimizing the concentrations of NOx, CO and unburnt fuel in the effluent.
