Thermal Stability of Type II Modifications by IR Femtosecond Laser in Silica-based Glasses

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Femtosecond (fs) laser written fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are excellent candidates for ultra-high temperature (>800 °C) monitoring. More specifically, Type II modifications in silicate glass fibers, characterized by the formation of self ...

Study on the thermal stability of Polystyryl surfactants and its modified clay nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Five oligomeric styrene surfactants, N,N,N-trimethylpolystyrylammonium, N,N-dimethyl-N-benzylpolystyrylammonium, N,N-dimethyl-N-hexadecylpolystyrylammonium, 1,2-dimethyl-3-polystyrylimidazolium, and triphenylpolystyrylphosphonium chlorides were ...

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Stability in Multi-Position Controlled Thermal Processes

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1969
The common distributed parameter thermal processes that can be modelled by the cascade of a time constant and a transit delay (ie: boilers without superheaters, furnaces, ovens, vats, torches, fluidised beds, etc) are discussed.

Research Advances in Protein Engineering to Enhance the Thermal Stability of Glycosidase [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Glycosidase is an indispensable enzyme in the sugar industry. It is difficult to maintain the stability of natural glycosidase during long-term high-temperature sugar conversion, limiting its application in industrial production.

Strongly Enhanced Thermal Stability of Crystalline Organic Thin Films Induced by Aluminum Oxide Capping Layers

open access: yes, 2004
We show that the thermal stability of thin films of the organic semiconductor diindenoperylene (DIP) can be strongly enhanced by aluminum oxide capping layers.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Remarkable thermal stability of BF3-doped polyaniline

open access: yes, 2003
We show that the recently synthesized BF3-doped polyaniline (PANI) exhibits remarkable stability against thermal ageing. Unlike the protonated PANI, which shows rapid degradation of the conductivity on heating in air, BF3-doped PANI shows more than an ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
