Thermal Stratification in Heat Storages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The term “thermal stratification” suggests a discontinuous temperaturefield. Though such is impossible the term corresponds well with our image of the phenomenon. In general we understand by thermal stratification a non scalar temperature-field, - more particular in a fluid medium, - which is an increasing function of only the elevation.

A Polar Surface Eddy Obscured by Thermal Stratification [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
AbstractMesoscale and submesoscale eddies play an important role in the distribution of heat and biogeochemical properties throughout the global oceans. Such eddies are important in the Arctic Ocean, particularly in the frontal regions, but are difficult to detect using traditional satellite‐based methods.

Research on fine analysis and accelerated prediction technology for thermal stratification in the upper plenum of the “Monju” reactor

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Thermal stratification phenomena in SFRs and machine learning applications in nuclear system R&D have captured the community's attention. Existing methods, such as CFD, demand significant time and computational resources, hindering the timely prediction ...

Investigation of second grade fluid through temperature dependent thermal conductivity and non-Fourier heat flux

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Here we investigated stagnation point flow of second grade fluid over a stretchable cylinder. Heat transfer is characterized by non-Fourier law of heat flux and thermal stratification.

Chemical and thermal stratification in lakes [PDF]

open access: yesLimnology, 2010
An index that shows chemical stratification strength [IC-i; i = water quality item such as chlorophyll-a (Chl.a) and soluble phosphorus (SP)] was proposed and compared with one of thermal stratification strength indices, Schmidt’s stability index (SSI), in Shiozu Bay and Lake Biwa, Japan.

Evaluation of thermal stratification and its relation with the water quality in the wetland Cachimbero, municipality of Cimitarra, Santander, Colombia

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2014
Solar radiation and its heat dissipation influence directly the thermal stratification of water bodies. In the wetland Cachimbero (Cimitarra, Colombia), the heat budget and existence of thermal stratification within the water body was studied; besides ...

Numerical Study on the Effects of Thermal and Mass Stratification on Chemically Reacting Unsteady MHD Nanofluid past an Oscillating Vertical Plate through a Porous Medium

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
The purpose of this study is to study the combined influence of thermal and mass stratification on unsteady magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid past a vertically oscillating plate with variable temperature.

Thermal stratification and fish thermal preference explain vertical eDNA distributions in lakes [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, 2020
Abstract Significant advances have been made towards surveying animal and plant communities using DNA isolated from environmental samples. Despite rapid progress, we lack a comprehensive understanding of the “ecology” of environmental DNA (eDNA), particularly its temporal and spatial distribution and how this is ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
