Thermal contact: mischief and time scales [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2019
Abstract We discuss what kind of quantum dynamics can yield thermalization. We show that any temperature measurement protocol must be sensitive to the system’s local energy scale, not just its state. Specifically, we illustrate this by showing that any temperature measurement protocol that does not resolve the system’s local ...

Thermal Niche for Seed Germination and Species Distribution Modelling of Swietenia macrophylla King (Mahogany) under Climate Change Scenarios

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Swietenia macrophylla is an economically important tree species propagated by seeds that lose their viability in a short time, making seed germination a key stage for the species recruitment.

Temperatura base para emissão de folhas e nós, filocrono e plastocrono das plantas daninhas papuã e corriola Base temperature for leaf and node appearance, phyllochron and plastochron in the weeds Alexander grass and Morning glory

Functional Traits, Morphology, and Herbage Production of Vernalised and Non-Vernalised Chicory cv. Choice (Cichorium intybus L.) in Response to Defoliation Frequency and Height

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) used in pastoral systems has the attributes required of a forage species to reduce animal urinary nitrogen loading to soil, increase milk production, and enhance milk fatty acid profile to improve pastoral farm systems for ...

Meteorological conditions determine the thermal-temporal position of the annual Botrytis bunch rot epidemic on Vitis vinifera L. cv. Riesling grapes

open access: yesOENO One, 2016
Aims: Under Central European climatic conditions, bunch rot caused by Botrytis cinerea occurs virtually every season on Vitis vinifera L. cv. Riesling grapes.

Thermal time scales in a color glass condensate [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 2006
In a model of relativistic heavy ion collisions wherein the unconfined quark-gluon plasma is condensed into glass, we derive the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann cooling law. This law is well known to hold true in condensed matter glasses. The high energy plasma is initially created in a very hot negative temperature state and cools down to the Hagedorn glass ...

Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas in Children and Adolescents: Expert Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas (SPN) is a rare low‐grade malignant exocrine pancreatic tumor, mostly discovered during the second decade of life in females, with a very good prognosis, provided microscopically complete surgical excision is achieved.

Instabilities of time-averaged configurations in thermal glasses [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2019
In amorphous solids at finite temperatures the particles follow chaotic trajectories which, at temperatures sufficiently lower than the glass transition, are trapped in "cages". Averaging their positions for times shorter than the diffusion time, one can define a time-averaged configuration.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
