Graphite Bisulphate and Thermal Expanded Graphite from Lignin
Pathbreaking studies of electrochemical graphite bisulphate synthesis from artificial graphite produced from hydrolyzed lignin and further production of high quality thermal expanded graphite are described. The studies show that any oxidation level can be achieved as well as over oxidized graphite may be produced at graphite bisulphate synthesis ...

FEATURES OF ULTRASONIC SPLITTING OF THERMALLY EXPANDED GRAPHITE
Thermally expanded graphite is obtained from crucible graphite by treatment with oleum in the presence of an oxidizing agent. The obtained samples of thermally expanded graphite were subjected to ultrasonic dispersion (splitting up) in four liquid media (water, toluene, benzene, acetone).

Fossil biomass preserved as graphitic carbon in a late paleoproterozoic banded iron formation metamorphosed at more than 550°C [PDF]
Metamorphism is thought to destroy microfossils, partly through devolatilization and graphitization of biogenic organic matter. However, the extent to which there is a loss of molecular, elemental and isotope signatures from biomass during high ...

Preparation of Expanded Graphite Using a Thermal Method
This article reports a new way to prepare expanded graphite using a thermal method. Natural graphite was added to crystalline hydrate of metals with mechanical stirring at room temperature, taken in the number of 20-80% of the mass of mix. This was then placed in muffle furnace. All process of activation takes from 10 to 20 minutes.
