Architecting nano‐Al/HMX/CuO energetic micro‐units unlocks superior interface and highly efficient combustion

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Improving the dispersion of nano‐aluminum is of great importance in explosives and propellants. The spherical Al/HMX/CuO energetic micro‐units were prepared using microchannel technology, which significantly improved the uniformity and dispersion of nano‐Al. It also enhanced the mass and heat transfer efficiency between the fuel and oxidizer components,

Optimizing Ball‐Milled Composites for Fast Energy Release Under Shock Compression

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microparticle additives containing both Al fuel and oxidizer, fabricated by arrested reactive milling (ARM), could potentially increase the power of energetic materials such as HMX because they contain premixed fuel and oxidizer. Optimizing shock reactivity requires exploring a vast parametric space encompassing composition, milling parameters

Synthesis and oxidation chemistry of highly energetic boron/aluminum/magnesium composites

open access: yesFirePhysChem, 2023
The limited use of boron (B) in energetic applications is due to the presence of a native oxide layer on its surface, which acts as a thermodynamic barrier and adds to the dead weight that does not contribute to the oxidation energy release.

Metal Battery Anode: Rich in Electrons, Rich in Problems: A Critical Review from Industrial Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 49, 3 September 2026.
Metal‐anode batteries using Li, Na, Mg, and Ca offer exceptionally high energy density, but dendrites, unstable interphases, cracking, and pore formation hinder durability and safety. This review shows how careful electrolyte and interphase design can stabilize these reactive metals.

Beyond the Gold Standard: Towards Industrially Viable Electrodes for Durable Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 16, Issue 34, 9 September 2026.
Transparent and opaque electrode materials are mapped by raw material cost per 1 m2 electrode area and retained median device efficiency after heat–light ageing. FTO offers a lower‐cost and more stable alternative to ITO, while Cr/Al provides the lowest‐cost rear electrode investigated with Au‐like stability and substantially improved durability ...

Sporicidal effects of iodine-oxide thermite reaction products [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
Iodine pentoxide-aluminum thermite reactions have been driven by impacts at 1000 m/s on steel plates 3 mm or thicker. This reaction releases iodine gas that is known to be a sporicide. To test the impact reactions for sporicidal effects, reactions took place in closed chambers containing dried Bacillus subtilis spores.
