Combustion synthesis of ultra‐high temperature ceramics: Review
Abstract Novel and future‐oriented aerospace, energy, transportation, and other industrial technologies require materials capable of operating at temperatures above 2000°C. Ultra‐high temperature ceramic materials (UHTCs), based on carbides, borides, carbonitrides, and nitrides of transition metals—many with melting points exceeding 3000°C—possess the ...

In-situ processing of NiAl–alumina composites by thermite reaction
Abstract NiAl–Alumina composites have been fabricated by reactive sintering of ball-milled and compacted powder mixtures containing NiO and Al. Dense NiAl–Al 2 O 3 composite with an interpenetrating Al 2 O 3 network was fabricated after 2 h of vacuum hot pressing at 1200°C and 50 MPa.

Thermite assisted synthesis of ZrB2 and ZrB2–SiC through B4C reduction of ZrO2 and ZrSiO4 in air
ZrB2 and ZrB2–SiC powders have been produced by reducing ZrO2 and ZrSiO4 with B4C without using any furnace. Magnesium was added to the mixtures of (ZrO2+B4C) and (ZrSiO4+B4C).

A survey of explosive traces in public places
Abstract Interpretation and evaluation of trace explosives evidence requires practitioner understanding of factors including transfer, persistence, and environmental prevalence. This study builds on previous work and studies the contemporary prevalence of organic high explosives and inorganic ions of explosives significance in public places.

Computational Modeling of Combustion Wave in Nanoscale Thermite Reaction
Nanoscale thermites such as the composite mixture of nano-sized aluminum and molybdenum trioxide powders possess several technical advantages such as much higher reaction rate and shorter ignition delay, when compared to the conventional energetic formulations made of micron-sized metal and oxidizer particles.
