Abstract Predictive functional control (PFC) is a straightforward and cheap model‐based technique for systematic control of well‐damped open‐loop processes. Nevertheless, its oversimplified design characteristics are often the cause of diminished efficacy in more challenging applications; processes involving lightly damped and/or unstable dynamics have

This work introduces a method to detect and optimize the flame front boundary. A high‐speed camera was employed to continuously capture the flame images. By setting appropriate intensity thresholds, the impact noise can be eliminated from the image and the flame front boundary can be determined.

Numerical investigation of the premixed V-flame stabilization and blowout [PDF]
Global warming and high fossil fuel consumption increase the application of the low-Nox burner with lean-premixed combustion. However, this type of combustion is more susceptible to thermoacoustic instabilities.

The complex bursting oscillation and bifurcation mechanisms in coupling systems of different scales have been a hot spot domestically and overseas. In this paper, we analyze the bursting oscillation of a generalized Duffing–Van der Pol system with periodic excitation.

Suppression of thermo-acoustic instabilities in horizontal Rijke tube using pulsating radial jets
Thermo-acoustic instability has been observed in gas turbines, rocket engines, and aero-engines. Acoustic perturbations grow and change the characteristics of the flow due to instability.

3D convolutional selective autoencoder for instability detection in combustion systems
While analytical solutions of critical (phase) transitions in dynamical systems are abundant for simple nonlinear systems, such analysis remains intractable for real-life dynamical systems. A key example is thermoacoustic instability in combustion, where
