Thermoacoustic instabilities of lean disc flames

Fuel, 2016
Abstract The present work evaluates impinging lean disc flames, stabilized on a Helmholtz resonator, under thermoacoustic oscillations. These unsteady flames were found to oscillate with either one single frequency ( f ) or two simultaneous frequencies ( f , 2 f ).

Thermoacoustic Flow Instability in a Scramjet Combustor

41st AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2005
*† ‡ § ¶ This paper deals with the thermoacoustic instability and ensuing flow oscillation in a scramjet engine, a phenomenon commonly known as combustion instability. The analysis is based on a quasi-one-dimensional treatment of unsteady flow motion, which simulates the main features of the oscillatory flowfields in both the isolator and combustor ...

Low order modeling of thermoacoustic instabilities

2022
Pollution and The Greenhouse Effect are a concern in our society. The high levels of CO2, NOx, ozone, and methane gasses are alarming and have pushed gas turbine industries to develop more environmentally friendly combustors. In the past years, Lean Premixed Combustors have been identified as a potential solution.

Thermoacoustic Instabilities in Counterflow Diffusion Flames

2019
Thermoacoustic instabilities arise in combustion systems from a coupling between the unsteady heat release of the flame and the underlying acoustic field. Although thermoacoustics have been studied extensively with regards to premixed flames, where the fuel and oxidizer are fully mixed before combustion, the study of thermoacoustics in diffusion flames

Modeling, Analysis, and Control of Thermoacoustic Instabilities

2010
