Reflection at Free Surface in Micropolar Thermoelastic Solid with two Temperatures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
The present investigation is concerned with the effect of two temperatures on reflection coefficients in a micropolar thermoelastic solid half space. With two relaxation times, reflection of plane waves impinging obliquely at a plane interface of the ...

In-situ analysis of the thermoelastic effect and its relation to the onset of yielding of low carbon steel

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
The thermoelastic effect indicates the dependency of temperature and volume change in the material and, due to the heat released during plastic deformation, a temperature minimum occurs in the region of the onset of yielding.

Investigation of microstructural influence on entropy change in magnetocaloric polycrystalline samples of NiMnGaCu ferromagnetic shape memory alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Among NiMnGa-based quaternary systems, NiMnGaCu exhibits an interesting giant magnetocaloric effect thanks to the temperature overlapping of magnetic transition and thermoelastic martensitic transformation (TMT), in particular for compositions with ≈6 at%

Thermoelastic Equilibrium and Specimen Size Effects in Thermoelastic Martensitic Transformations

open access: yesMaterials Transactions, JIM, 1998
New thermodynamical concepts are introduced in thermoelastic martensitic transformations, since the conventional thermodynamical scheme cannot explain the upward shifts in M s and in experimentally determined equilibrium temperature T 0 * =(M s +A t )/2 with increasing specimen size which have been experimentally observed in Ti-Ni and Cu-Al-Ni alloys.

Study of Intrinsic Dissipation Due to Thermoelastic Coupling in Gyroscope Resonators

open access: yesSensors, 2016
This paper presents analytical models, as well as numerical and experimental verification of intrinsic dissipation due to thermoelastic loss in tuning-fork resonator. The thermoelastic analytical governing equations are created for resonator vibrating at

THERMOELASTIC EFFECTS IN VITREOUS SILICA

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1981
The Grüneisen parameter of vitreous silica is of order -10 and strongly temperature dependent at 1.5 K, whereas in most crystalline solids it is of order +1 and temperature independent at similar temperatures. In this investigation the Grüneisen parameter has been determined by means of thermoelastic measurements.

A two dimensional fibre reinforced micropolar thermoelastic problem for a half-space subjected to mechanical force [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2015
The purpose of this paper is to study the two dimensional deformation of fibre reinforced micropolar thermoelastic medium in the context of Green-Lindsay theory of thermoelasticity. A mechanical force is applied along the interface of fluid half

Thermoelastic responses in rotating nanobeams with variable physical properties due to periodic pulse heating

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Recently, many researchers have been interested in the so-called theories of nonlocal elasticity (NET) and modified couple stress (MCS). The effect of size and dependence on the micron scale was predicted using this theory.

A manufacturing imperfection: fiber distortion and its effect on thermomechanical properties of polymer composites

open access: yesDüzce Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Dergisi, 2023
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of a production imperfection, fiber distortions, on the resulting thermoelastic behaviour of composite materials in hexagonally packed Representative Volume Elements (RVEs) with finite elements ...

Meniscus‐Guided Soft‐Lithographic Assembly of Grid‐Type Molecular Martensite Films for Single‐Crystal‐Like Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).
