Thermoelastic instability on a frictional surface and its implication for size effect in friction experiments

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2023
Recent laboratory friction experiments on large rock samples revealed that dynamic weakening, a remarkable reduction in the friction coefficient at elevated slip rates, occurs at lower slip rates in larger samples. There is a large difference between the

Inverse Analysis Related to Stress Separation in Thermoelastic Stress Analysis.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1996
This paper deals with stress separation in thermoelastic stress analysis. The problem of stress separation can be divided into two : (1) an inverse problem to estimate the unknown boundary values from the sum of the principal stresses inside the body, and (2) a direct problem to compute the stress components inside the body based on the estimated ...

Thermoelastic stress analysis of titanium components and simultaneous assessment of residual stress

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
The thermoelastic effect describes a linear relationship between change in body temperature and state of stress in the presence of adiabatic conditions.

Quantitative thermoelastic measurement on a helicopter glass fibre component underneath a surface anti-fretting coating.

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA) has been applied to measure the first stress invariant on a composite helicopter component under load. The component comprised inner mono-directional glass fiber layers with an outer central plate in glass fiber ...

Memory-dependent magneto–thermoelasticity for perfectly conducting two-dimensional elastic solids with thermal shock

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2019
Recently, Yu et al. (2014) proposed a new model in generalized thermoelasticity based on heat conduction with the memory-dependent derivative. The magneto–thermoelastic responses in a perfectly conducting thermoelastic solid half-space is investigated in

Thermoelastic investigation of residual stress: plastic deformation and the change in thermoelastic constant

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Plastic deformation causes very small changes in the thermoelastic response of metallic materials; this variation of the thermoelastic constant has the potential to form the basis of a new non-destructive, non-contact, full-field technique for ...

Numerical Simulation of Thermoelastic Stress Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesManufacturing Technology, 2015
This paper focuses on verification of experiment of thermoelastic stress analysis by using numerical solution. Thermoelastic stress analysis is noncontact technique to obtain thermograms, thermographic images of the stress fields, by using an infrared camera.

Meniscus‐Guided Soft‐Lithographic Assembly of Grid‐Type Molecular Martensite Films for Single‐Crystal‐Like Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).
