Low-Cost Thermoelastic Stress Analysis

open access: yes, 2020
The popularity of thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA) has been hampered by the high capital cost of the equipment, the need for a cyclic load and for a surface with uniform emissivity. Current commercially-available TSA systems allow data to be collected when the component of interest is subject to random loading which has broadened the potential ...

Moisture Effects on the Dimensional Stability of Bistable Carbon/Epoxy Laminates

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Experimental and numerical approach for studying moisture effects on composite dimensional stability. ABSTRACT Bistable composite laminates are attractive because they can switch between two stable shapes without continuous energy input, enabling applications in morphing structures and energy harvesting devices.

A Label‐Free Ultraviolet Photoacoustic Microscopy Enables Nuclear Imaging and Toxicity Assessment in an Intact Brain Organoid

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Ultraviolet photoacoustic microscopy enables label‐free visualization of nuclear morphology in intact human brain organoids. By exploiting endogenous nucleic acid absorption at 266 nm, this approach resolves individual nuclei without staining or sectioning.

Wavefront sensing at a high‐repetition‐rate X‐ray free‐electron laser

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a fast, robust and sensor‐free approach to X‐ray speckle tracking that enables shot‐to‐shot wavefront characterization at high‐repetition‐rate X‐ray free‐electron lasers. Our measurements reveal a hierarchy of wavefront fluctuations indicative of instabilities in the accelerator and beamline optics at the European XFEL.Wavefront ...

Influence of a magnetic field on double-porosity photo-thermoelastic materials under Lord–Shulman theory

open access: yesOpen Physics
This study explores the influence of a magnetic field on a two-dimensional photo-thermoelastic material with a dual porous structure, based on the Lord–Shulman theory of thermoelasticity.

Thermodynamic Damping in Porous Materials with Spherical Cavities

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 1997
When a material is subjected to an alternating stress field, there are temperature fluctuations throughout its volume due to the thermoelastic effect.

Thermoelastic Damping Limited Quality Factor Enhancement and Energy Dissipation Analysis of Rectangular Plate Resonators Using Nonclassical Elasticity Theory

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2022
Among the different energy dissipation mechanisms, thermoelastic damping plays a vital role and needs to be alleviated in vibrating resonators to mitigate parameters by improving the thermoelastic damping limited quality factor, QTED.

SIF Determination with Thermoelastic Stress Analysis

open access: yesProcedia Structural Integrity, 2016
AbstractThis work is focused on the experimental determination of the stress intensity factor (SIF) using thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA) for a compact tension specimen during a fatigue crack growth test. A comparison of the stress field obtained with computational modelling, finite element method, against the experimental data obtained with the ...

Fractional Moment Theory for Anomalous Transport: A Unified Framework for Lévy Flights, Fractals, and Complex Dynamical Systems

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 49, Issue 13, Page 14964-15009, 15 September 2026.
ABSTRACT We develop a unified mathematical framework extending classical moment theory from discrete integer orders to a continuous spectrum of real orders f>0$$ f>0 $$, providing a systematic statistical characterization of complex systems exhibiting power‐law behavior.
