Superconducting switch permits measurement of small voltages at cryogenic temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Dual-coil, superconducting, on-off switch measures small, thermoelectrically generated voltages produced by thermocouples in a liquid helium bath. Placed in a shunt configuration between the thermocouple and the measuring device, the measuring device ...

Incoherent scattering can favorably influence energy filtering in nanostructured thermoelectrics

open access: yes, 2017
Investigating in detail the physics of energy filtering through a single planar energy barrier in nanostructured thermoelectric generators, we reinforce the non-trivial result that the anticipated enhancement in generated power at a given efficiency via ...

Thermodynamics of Thermoelectric Phenomena and Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fifty years ago, the optimization of thermoelectric devices was analyzed by considering the relation between optimal performances and local entropy production. Entropy is produced by the irreversible processes in thermoelectric devices.

Revealing the Hidden Role of Cd in p‐Type Mg3Sb2: Enhanced Thermoelectric Performance by Grain Boundary Segregation Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The hidden role of Cd segregation at grain boundaries is revealed in p‐type Mg3Sb2 by atom probe tomography and other advanced characterizations. Grain boundary Cd enrichment suppresses the SbMg+ hole‐killer formation and lowers potential barriers, enhancing electrical conductivity.

Selenium‐Incorporated Polymerized Nonfullerene Acceptors/SWCNT Composites with Polymer‐Assisted n‐Doping for High‐Performance Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium‐incorporated polymerized nonfullerene acceptor PCB2Se forms a strong supramolecular complex with SWCNTs, enabling a record‐high zT of 0.29. Sequential N‐DMBI doping, mediated through a polymer‐assisted electron‐transfer pathway, successfully converts the PCB2Se/SWCNT composite into an efficient n‐type material with an impressive power factor ...

Elasto-thermoelectric beam formulation for modeling thermoelectric devices [PDF]

open access: yesFinite Elements in Analysis and Design, 2017
The present paper provides a dynamic, non-linear and fully coupled Finite Element (FE) formulation based on the Timoshenko beam theory to study elasto-thermoelectric responses in thermoelectric devices. The two main motivations of this work are: i) to study mechanical responses in thermoelectric devices, which must be taken into account in
