Correlations and Kappa Distributions: Numerical Experiment and Physical Understanding [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy
Kappa distributions, their statistical framework, and their thermodynamic origin describe systems with correlations among their particle energies, residing in stationary states out of classical thermal equilibrium/space plasmas, from solar wind to the ...

A review of numerical analysis of friction stir welding

open access: yesProgress in Materials Science, 2014
Friction stir welding is a relatively new solid-state joining technique which is widely adopted in different industry fields to join different metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. Friction stir welding is a highly complex

A numerical experiment of integrated geodesy

open access: yesBulletin Géodésique, 1990
The paper has two main targets: to prove by numerical experiment on simulated data (exact solution a priori known) that the integrated approach gives superior results that can’t be achieved neither by pure (“incorrect”) λ.s. adjustment nor by a λ.s. adjustment of observations corrected by some a priori long wave length gravity model; to find among many

Calculation of pipeline branches with considering nonlinearity of elastic base [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
When calculating systems on an elastic foundation, the generalized Reissner-Vlasov-Filomenko-Borodich model is traditionally used. Such models are acceptable for small displacements. For large displacements, there are some deviations from reality.

Nuclear Reactivity Calculation with Reduction of Fluctuations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2023
This article presents a study based on a series of numerical experiments. It demonstrates the possibility of reducing fluctuations in the calculation of reactivity using the second Bernoulli number based on the approximation of the Euler-Maclaurin ...

Optimization of Geometrical Parameters of Fire Wood Fluidized Bed Burner [PDF]

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics, 2021
The aim of this work is to determine the dynamics of the firewood burning-out in the fluidized bed burners and to select the optimal constructive characteristics of the burner of the fluidized bed, which allows decreasing the unburnt fuel particles to be

Numerical Experiments on Spiral Structure [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1970
Results of an n-body calculation, containing about 120000 particles, were shown as a motion picture. Some of the particles are treated as ‘gas’, obeying a special dissipative dynamics, the rest as ‘stars’. The system was started as pure ‘gas’, and ‘stars’ were made out of the ‘gas’ in a manner closely mimicking real galaxies.

The Ability of a Soil Temperature Gradient-Based Methodology to Detect Leaks from Pipelines in Buried District Heating Channels

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
We carried out several numerical experiments to analyze how different boundary conditions affect the ability to detect small pipeline leaks. Our method is based on determining the soil temperature gradient above a buried district heating channel.
