Numerical and experimental investigation of heat transfer in a dimpled and petaled array tube with a coiled twisted tape and SiC nanofluid

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Thermal efficiency challenges are common in absorber tube designs. This study proposes an innovative absorber tube featuring dimples and petal arrays on its surface, integrated with a coiled twisted tape, and circulating a 0.9 % volume concentration of ...

Towards a precession driven dynamo experiment

open access: yes, 2014
The most ambitious project within the DREsden Sodium facility for DYNamo and thermohydraulic studies (DRESDYN) at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) is the set-up of a precession-driven dynamo experiment.

Time-dependent obstacle problem in thermohydraulics

open access: yes, 2009
Obstacle problems, mathematical models of some nonlinear phenomena accompanying a free boundary, have been well studied. In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of a system between the obstacle problem and the Navier-Stokes equations is considered.

The effect of geometrical parameters on thermohydraulic characteristics of plain fin-and-flat tube heat exchangers: A CFD and Taguchi approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
The present work evaluated the effect of the geometrical parameters of plain fin-and-flat tube heat exchangers on the thermohydraulic characteristics of the air side in a laminar flow regime. The influence of a 21.4–25.4 mm transverse tube pitch, a 17–21

Analysis and optimization of a liquid-vapor thermohydraulic model

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys
This work presents a simplified model of compressible multiphase fluid flow in a heated porous medium. We first introduce the model and its numerical approximation using a linearized implicit finite volume scheme. We then propose a technique to accelerate the implicit scheme through a machine learning approach.

Development of a test facility for analyzing supercritical fluid blowdown [PDF]

open access: yes
The generation IV nuclear reactors under development mostly use supercritical fluids as the working fluid because higher temperatures improve the thermal efficiency.
