Thermal and thermohydraulic performance of wavy finned absorber solar air heater

Solar Energy, 2016
Abstract In the present paper, the performance analysis of finned absorber solar air heater has been investigated analytically. The fluid channel is formed by two transversely positioned wavy fins attached on the absorber plate with bottom side thermally insulated and the top surface of absorber subjected to uniform heat flux.

A review of thermohydraulic performance of artificially roughened solar air heaters

Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2014
Abstract Solar air heaters form the major component of solar energy utilization system which absorbs the incoming solar radiation, converting it into thermal energy at the absorbing surface, and transferring the energy to a fluid flowing through the collector.

Optimal thermohydraulic performance of a wire mesh packed solar air heater

Solar Energy, 2006
This paper is concerned with thermohydraulic investigations on a packed bed solar air heater having its duct packed with blackened wire screen matrices of different geometrical parameters (wire diameter and pitch). The thermohydraulic performance of an air heater in terms of effective efficiency is determined on the basis of actual thermal energy gain ...

Thermohydraulic performance of a novel curved serpentine coil

Physics of Fluids, 2020
Conventional coil designs, such as helical and flat serpentine (FS) coils, are commonly employed for heat transfer applications due to their higher heat transfer performance and compactness. In the last few decades, chaotic coil designs have attracted the attention of a few researchers due to their superior thermohydraulic performance.

Thermohydraulic performance of packed-bed solar air heaters

Energy Conversion and Management, 1996
Abstract This work is aimed at experimentally investigating the thermohydraulic performance characteristics of packed-bed solar air heaters. The thermohydraulic performance parameter called “effective efficiency” has been employed to express the net useful thermal energy gain, taking into account the equivalent thermal energy required to produce the ...

Thermohydraulic Performance of a Packed Bed Solar Energy Storage System

2021
In the present scenario, solar energy is one of the sustainable solutions to limit the greenhouse gases emitted by conventional energy systems. But solar energy is intermittent. So in order to use solar energy when it is not available, energy storage is required.
