Thermoluminescent aerosol analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A method for detecting and measuring trace amounts of aerosols when reacted with ozone in a gaseous environment was examined. A sample aerosol was exposed to a fixed ozone concentration for a fixed period of time, and a fluorescer was added to the ...

Optically stimulated nanodosimeters with high storage capacity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work we report on the thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) properties of beta-Na(Gd,Lu)F-4:Tb3+ nanophosphors prepared via a standard high-temperature coprecipitation route. Irradiating this phosphor with X-rays not

Lymphoma, multiple myeloma and leukaemia incidence in regions of Belarus most heavily contaminated by the Chernobyl accident

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? The 1986 Chernobyl accident led to widespread radioactive contamination across parts of Europe, with elevated childhood leukaemia rates observed in heavily affected areas of Ukraine. Data on long‐term haematological and other non‐thyroid cancer risk in the general population in heavily contaminated regions, however, remain limited.

LPE Growth of Composite Thermoluminescent Detectors Based on the Lu3−xGdxAl5O12:Ce Single Crystalline Films and YAG:Ce Crystals

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
This work is dedicated to the development of new types of composite thermoluminescent (TL) detectors for simultaneous registration of the different components of ionization radiation based on the single crystalline films (SCFs) of Ce3+-doped Lu3− ...

Luminescence dating and mineralogical investigations of bricks from erikli basilica in Stratonikeia ancient city (SW-Turkey) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Stratonikeia is one of the oldest settlements in southwestern Anatolia and at the same time significant for an understanding of the Hellenistic period. Archaeological records of Stratonikeia date back to around 2000 BC.

Patient Dose Optimisation of Abdominopelvic Protocols During X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluates organ doses in abdominopelvic radiography for both erect and supine positions, addressing dose optimisation concerns in Ghana. Using CalDose X and thermoluminescence dosimeters, organ doses and image quality were analysed, revealing significant dose reductions with optimised exposure parameters (70 kVp, 10 mAs, 110 cm FDD).

Radiation does response of calcium carbonate crystal in marine shells samples [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2002
A study of the evolution of element, crystal structure and thermoluminescence signal versus gamma irradiation dose were carried out for calcite shells samples. The composition of element was studied by X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.

Effect of particle size in the TL response of natural quartz sensitized by high dose of gamma radiation and heat-treatments

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2010
This work investigates the effect of particle size in the thermoluminescence (TL) response of a quartz crystal that was initially crushed and classified into ten size fractions between 38 μm and 5 mm.

Thermoluminescence fading studies: Implications for long-duration space measurements in Low Earth Orbit

open access: yes, 2013
Within a 1.5 year comprehensive fading experiment several batches of LiF:Mg,Ti and LiF:Mg,Cu,P thermoluminescence detectors (TLDs) were studied. The TLDs originated from two manufacturers and were processed by three laboratories using different annealing

Geochronology of the Whittlesey sedimentary succession, eastern England: The ‘Pompeii’ of the British late Middle Pleistocene to Holocene record

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The sedimentary succession at Whittlesey preserves a unique British late Middle Pleistocene to Holocene record back to a time equivalent to at least marine oxygen isotope stage 8 (ca. 250 ka). This study builds on previously published sedimentology, geochronology and palaeoecology results to establish 20 sedimentary facies associations, with ...
