Synthesis of Thermoresponsive Polymers for Drug Delivery
2014A protocol for synthesizing thermosensitive copolymers of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and N-vinylpyrrolidone (VP), cross-linked with N,N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA) has been described in this chapter. The copolymers have been formed at different concentrations of NIPAM and VP and at two different temperatures (70 °C and 30 °C). The lower critical

Functionalization of Textiles with Thermoresponsive Polymers
Journal of Fashion Technology & Textile Engineering, 2018Functionalization of textiles with thermoresponsive polymers is the aim of this research work. Therefore, suitable textile substrates had been selected and characterized with the aid of a skin model regarding the water vapor resistance. A novel modified cup method was optimized for detecting the thermoresponsive behavior of the synthesized polymer ...

Novel Thermoresponsive Polymers Tunable by pH
Macromolecules, 2011Thermoresponsive polymers that are pH tunable were successfully synthesized by a combination of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azide and alkynes (click chemistry). ATRP was employed to synthesize poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA), followed by introduction of alkyne groups using ...

Biocompatible Thermoresponsive Polymers: Property and Synthesis
2020Thermoresponsive polymers are responsive to slight changes in temperatures. In many cases, particularly with N-isopropylacrylamide group as repeating unit, the temperature at which the change takes place falls in physiological range. Hence, such polymers can be used for biological applications, even though biocompatibility is major issue in many cases.
